Are you planning on trekking up any snowy mountain cliffs this winter? There may not be a current GMC model for sale that’s quite up to that sort of task, but GMC has produced a new concept vehicle that sure is.
The 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Mountain concept truck is a “one-of-a-kind snow-climbing machine” according to the automaker, and it’s set to make its public debut in December 2017 at Vail Mountain in Colorado. We assume that a spectacular demonstration is sure to take place since the All Mountain concept truck is, at its core, a spectacle. After all, the vehicle is outfitted with four tank tracks instead of wheels and features an insane 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine under its hood.
“With GMC’s focus on premium capability and design, we wanted to ensure that this concept took these signature attributes to an entirely new level,” Carl Zipfel, GMC exterior designer, said in a statement announcing the new concept car. “The Sierra All Mountain concept Mattracks technology enables the truck to conquer uncharted territory while highlighting premium interior features such as Bose speakers and upscale leather treatments.”
While we’re sure that the Sierra All Mountain concept truck is perfectly lovely inside, it’s definitely not the vehicle’s interior design that has GMC fans’ curiosity piqued.
Built on a GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali 4WD Crew Cab platform, the All Mountain concept exudes strength and can-do attitude like no other truck we’ve ever seen. Some of the truck’s most exciting features include: wheel well and underbody LED lights, snowboard racks and other associated accessories by Thule, an amplifier and dual pod speaker kit by KICKER, a RIGID E-Series 30-inch Light Bar, a soft roll-up tonneau cover by Advance, and an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.
If you’re able to make it to Vail Mountain in Colorado during the 2017/2018 winter season, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the Sierra All Mountain concept vehicle in person. The car will be on display as part of a GMC partnership with Vail Resorts, Inc., a leading global mountain resort company. West coast GMC fans who already got a look at the Sierra All Mountain concept–or a variation of the vehicle built on a Sierra 2500HD All Terrain X platform, at least–at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show gave the car rave reviews.
“The Sierra All Mountain concept is perfectly suited for the outdoor activities offered at Vail properties,” Rich Latek, director of GMC marketing, told reporters. “This unique concept truck is a fun way to attract attention to GMC and highlight our partnership with Vail Resorts.”

At Anthony Buick GMC, we may not be able to offer you a monster like the All Mountain concept, but we’re sure you’ll still find something you love anyway.
