Buick is expanding its popular Regal lineup by two new choices: the Regal TourX and Regal Sportback.
The Buick Regal is a luxury midsize vehicle that comfortably seats five and starts out in the upper $20,000’s. Its plush and chic interior coupled with an elegant but low profile exterior has made it a hit for the Buick brand, so it’s no wonder that we’ll be seeing two new additions to this lineup.
A premium Buick station wagon
The TourX station wagon will come in three trim levels: base, Preferred and Essence. It drives like a car but features all of the utility of a station wagon, and the Buick badge means drivers aren’t compromising on quality. On the other side, the new Buick
Sportback infuses the sedan with a coupe-like design and five-door versatility, and features four trims: base, Preferred, Preferred II and Essence.
These two similar but different takes on the Regal model show that Buick is approaching their new designs by keeping versatility and usability in mind, all while understanding that the same audience for a car might have very different expectations.
Both of the powertrains are along the same lines, featuring 2.0-liter turbocharged engines that crank out 250 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Sportback comes in a nine-speed automatic with front-wheel drive, but buyers can opt for all-wheel drive with an eight-speed transmission instead. The TourX comes standard with all-wheel drive, making it road trip ready.
Now featuring new technology
Additionally, the TourX and Sportback will be the first Buicks to offer a standard active hood pedestrian safety system that can detect pedestrians when the car is moving between 16 and 30 mph. If one of these models is driving along between those speeds and senses an incoming pedestrian impact, the car will angle the front hood up four inches to lessen the impact and hopefully reduce injuries.
These two models also come standard with push-button start, keyless entry, hill start assist, 10 air bags, universal home remote, heated side mirrors, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi.
