Thirteen years ago, GM came out with the Canyon midsize truck designed especially for those truck lovers who wanted the pickup experience but without the half-ton bulk.
Successor to the Sonoma, the Canyon was created to be different. Offering a more roomy interior, buyers could choose between the regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab body styles, two wheel or four wheel drivetrain, and their choice of a 175 hp 2.8 liter 4 cylinder engine or the grittier 220 hp 3.5 liter 5 cylinder.
In 2014, the all-new GM Canyon pickup made its debut at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show with more options than ever before – plus future plans to take on the Denali styling.
Over the years, the GMC Canyon – taking design cues from its counterpart, the Chevy Colorado – has enjoyed widespread popularity and sales numbers that have exceeded the expectations of the brand. In 2014, pre-sale demand for the Colorado/Canyon pickups was so high, that GM had to fill 30,000 orders and add a 3rd shift to its Missouri plant to help build the trucks.
In 2015 and 2016 the mid-size Canyon was recognized as Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year and according to the brand, was one of the only three truck lineups in the industry at that time.
Two years later, GMC is offering buyers the option of purchasing one of its most popular pickups – complete with the sterling Denali treatment. Luxury upgrades on this trim include leather-appointed heated driver and front-passenger seating, burnished aluminum trim, French seat stitching, LED headlights, power rear liftgates, keyless entry, triple door seals, a sound deadening system, 20-inch aluminum wheels with painted accents, chrome fog lamp bezels, a spray-in bed liner, rectangular chrome side steps and a polished exhaust tip.
The new GMC Canyon Denali also comes equipped with tech features like an eight-inch touch screen with navigation and integration for Apple CarPlay, a remote starter, automatic climate control, three USB charge ports, a heated steering wheel, and 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The cab crew configuration for the Canyon Denali comes in both two and four-wheel drive models, offers a 3.6 liter V6 engine or an optional 2.8 liter Duramax turbo-diesel and is on sale now at Anthony Buick GMC.
